Your Home Birth

“You are an incredible midwife with such a gift. Your laughter is soothing and your energy is calm and affirmative. I am grateful that you helped me throughout this pregnancy, coaxing me along.” - Amy Z
The largest study of home births attended by Certified Professional Midwives, as published in the British Medical Journal, found that home birth is safe for low risk pregnancies and involves far fewer interventions than similar births in hospitals. As your midwife, I provide a gentle approach that will nurture and empower you, as well as the medical expertise needed to identify risk factors and manage complications. Your health and safety are always my top priority.
Here’s what you can expect from a home birth with Birth Bliss Midwifery:
Continuity of care
Close monitoring of you and your baby during labor
A safe and comfortable birthing environment
Reduction in routine interventions
Freedom of movement during labor
Immediate bonding with your baby
Your Baby's water birth

You are an absolute angel. Your gentle support through my birth made the process perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you for the loving support you brought to our family.” - Ashley, Arram & Rizo
Known as “the midwife’s epidural,” laboring in water has been shown to reduce pain and stress for mama, and provide a gentle transition into the world for baby. Evidence shows reducing the stress of labor and delivery, while promoting gentle birth, can reduce fetal complications.
I will supply a portable tub for your labor and delivery. You may choose to labor in the water and get out of the tub before you deliver your baby, or you may give birth in the tub.
Here are some of the benefits of a water birth as noted by the American Pregnancy Association:
Soothing, comforting and relaxing
Can increase the mother’s energy
Lessens a mother’s body weight, allowing free movement
Promotes more efficient uterine contractions and improved circulation – less pain for mama, more oxygen for baby
Can lower blood pressure
Reduces stress-related hormones, allowing mama’s body to produce endorphins, which serve as pain-inhibitors
Causes the perineum to become more elastic and relaxed, reducing the incidence and severity of tearing
Physical relaxation, which allows for mental relaxation
Provides greater sense of privacy, which can reduce inhibitions, anxiety, and fears
Provides an environment for the baby similar to the amniotic sac
Eases the stress of birth for the baby, thus increasing reassurance and sense of security
Placenta Encapsulation

“Thank you so much for guiding me through this crazy journey month after month! The prenatal care was amazing, and of course the birth, but the postpartum care was the most valuable help I didn't even know I needed.” - Alexa
80% of mothers experience some degree of “baby blues” in the first days and weeks after giving birth. When giving birth with an OB practice, you typically won’t be seen by a medical professional from the time you leave the hospital until your six-week postpartum appointment. This leaves a lot of new mothers coping with a wide range of emotions unaided by a trained health professional. As your midwife, I provide attentive postpartum care to cushion you through this transition, and I provide the option of placenta encapsulation.
Here are some of the benefits of consuming encapsulated placenta:
Balances hormones
Increases and enriches breastmilk
Increases energy
Decreases baby blues and postpartum depression
Decreases postpartum bleeding
Decreases iron deficiency
Decreases insomnia
Decreases postpartum “night sweats”
ENCAPSULATION PROCESSES
We will pick your placenta up after your birth, dehydrate and encapsulate it. Your placenta will be returned to you in 2 -3 days with written instructions. You may choose the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) method of encapsulation or the raw method of encapsulation.
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE (TCM) METHOD
The placenta is cleaned, steamed, dehydrated, and then ground before being placed into (vegan) capsules. With the traditional Chinese medicine method, pills can be stored indefinitely for help with hormone balancing later in life, as well as during early postpartum.
RAW METHOD
The placenta is cleaned, sliced and dehydrated, ground into a powder and then placed into (vegan) capsules. As a result of being dehydrated at a lower temperature, rather than steamed, the raw method capsules can have a more potent effect on energy levels.
